Platteville 
Chorale

Attention all singers!  Platteville Chorale is excited to welcome all adults who are interested in joining in singing during the 2023-24 season.  Rehearsals will be held weekly at the Center for the Arts on UW-Platteville campus every Monday evening from 7:30-9:00 pm starting on September 11th.  The Chorale, under the direction of Greg Dennis, will be performing for several concert this fall and the Chorale will also sing at various Holiday engagements in early December.  We invite all to join us in the joy of singing!

The Platteville Chorale is open to anyone who enjoys singing choral music, including amateur singers. There are no auditions, but obviously persons should be able to sing parts and have some music-reading ability.

Meet Our Director

Greg Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chorale and General Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a Master of Music degree in Choral Music Education from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

 

Gregory Dennis taught choral and general music for 40 years starting in 1969 in the public school systems of Flint, MI and Mount Horeb, Wisconsin with his final nine at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

 

Mr. Dennis has directed eight different community choirs including the Knights of Columbus Male Chorus Council 695 of Flint, Michigan, the Mount Horeb Chorale, the Iowa County Scenic Sounds Male Chorus, the Madison Boy Choir, the Masterworks Chorale of Middleton, Wisconsin, the Campus/Community Choir of Edgewood College, the River Valley Community Choir and the Platteville Chorale, some concurrently, for a total of 75 years as of 2013.

 

Mr. Dennis has also directed, produced, and/or acted in over 50 plays, musical shows and operas. He is an active director of honors and festival choirs and a frequent adjudicator and clinician in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Iowa with close to 200 events to his credit. Mr. Dennisʼ 18 years in church work has allowed him to be active in the traditions of the Presbyterian, Methodist, and Catholic churches.

 

Professional activities and memberships include 11 years with the Wisconsin Honors Project of the Wisconsin School Music Association (finishing in 1999 as the past chairman) and serving on the state board of directors for the Wisconsin Choral Directorsʼ Association, the Wisconsin Music Educatorsʼ Association and the Michigan School Vocal Association. Mr. Dennis was honored in 2008 with the coveted “Orpheus” Award by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia for meritorious service as a professional music educator.
