Zagreb Boys' Choir
Platteville Chorale and Children's Choir were fortunate to host a visit from
the Zagreb Boys' Choir of Croatia at a special concert on January 6. The
following information is about the visit - we will hopefully update this
page soon with some pictures from the concert itself.
The Zagreb Boys' Choir will be touring Wisconsin in January, 2008, singing in
in Platteville, as well as East Troy, Fond du Lac, Madison and Appleton. On
Sunday, January 6, they will sing at the St. Mary's Church at 9:00 a.m. and
at the First English Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. They will present a
full concert with chorale and children's choir that afternoon at 3:00 in the
Brodbeck Concert Hall in the Center for the Arts. Tickets
are now
on
sale from the Center for the Arts.
On Monday, Jan. 7, they will give a 30-minute concert for the Platteville
Public Schools in the High School Auditorium at 9:00 a.m. and a concert in
the Lancaster Middle School auditorium at 10:30 a.m. Further details will
be posted as they become available.
The choir will be staying with host families the nights of Jan. 5 and 6. We
are asking for help in hosting the boys and the adults that accompany them.
The boys are from 9 to 14 years in age. Each host family will have a pair
of boys and an adult. This is a real opportunity for families to enhance
their education through a cultural exchange. They speak English. They
will be picked up on the Saturday evening the 5th at the Center for the
Arts parking lot about 7 p.m., dropped off at the St. Mary's church on
Sunday morning, picked up again after the concert on Sunday afternoon, and
dropped off at the Platteville High School on Monday morning the 7th. The
responsibility of the hosts will include two breakfasts and Sunday evening
dinner. If you are interested in serving as a host, please complete the volunteer hosting form and return it to Debra
Hill.
