Membership in the Platteville Children's Choir requires a year-long commitment on the part of both child and parent.

Expectations:

1. The child must be prompt and consistent in attendance at both Monday evening rehearsals and all scheduled dress rehearsals and concerts.
2. Absences will be accepted only for illness, family emergencies, and school curricular events, such as class trips and music concerts.
3. An absence will be excused provided the director receives a phone call, email or note from the parent/guardian. A problem with unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the choir.
4. Children will not only benefit from singing in the choir, but from participating as audience members of the concerts in which they are participants. Therefore, children are expected to remain for the entire concert. If there are exceptions, it should be discussed with the director.
5. Children will be required to act appropriately during rehearsals. Although the directors acknowledge the appropriate energy and enthusiasm children are known for, if a child disrupts the musical process with inappropriate behavior, the directors will act to modify that behavior in this way:
   • 1^st offense: verbal warning
   • 2^nd offense: time out in a chair to the side
   • 3^rd offense: removal for the evening followed by a parent conference prior to the next rehearsal
   Two instances such as this may result in permanent dismissal from the choir.
6. The children are expected to arrive at choir on time, having used the restroom just prior to rehearsal. Students may bring a water bottle to rehearsal.
7. The child is responsible for the music. Undamaged copies must be returned after they are used and the Director calls for them.
8. Children should arrive at concerts in approved concert dress. Singers without concert dress will not sing at that event.
